Summary:

Provide a unique, personal guest experience by welcoming guests to the Essex House Continental Breakfast Buffet and delivering exceptional guest service while driving a quality and value experience by consistently maintaining the appearance standards for the Essex House Continental Breakfast Buffet.

Set Up and Breakdown Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up, organize and maintain breakfast items in a timely manner, and maintain cleanliness at all times.
  • Organize work station with designated supplies, ensuring back up supplies are available, and displayed in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Set up and maintain dining areas according to designated floor layout diagrams.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all breakfast items and set-up requirements.
  • Possess complete knowledge for the use and maintenance of all equipment, decorative items and fixtures.
  • Be familiar with the daily in house count, expected business levels, and prepare work area and back up supplies accordingly.
  • Collect and review the in-house guest report, making note of all VIPs and any special events or information pertinent to the upcoming shift.
  • Complete proper closing and storage for all breakfast items and equipment.
  • Ensure buffet area is completely cleaned and reset for restaurant business at the end of each shift.
  • Prepare a daily recap including inventory concerns, supplies to be ordered and guest questions, concerns or requests.
  • Restock the Buffet Storage Closet and organize all supplies as designated.

Guest Relations Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a friendly welcoming greeting to guests as they arrive in the Essex Breakfast area; ensure guests are listed on the in-house guest report.
  • Anticipate guest's needs and proactively offer services.
  • Ensure all furniture is clean, comfortable and in good condition; communicate needs when necessary.
  • Promote positive guest relations by making guest connections and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Respond to guest needs and communicate questions, concerns or requests to the appropriate departments.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/facilities and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquires accurately.
  • Suggest other amenities to guests such food, beverage, merchandise, and reservations to drive internal revenue and otherwise market the Hotel and Brand.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:  

  • Consistently maintain a well-groomed appearance, posture and hygiene deemed by management.
  • Make-up, appearance and style should stay current and in line with current fashion standards and trends as deemed by management and consistent with Essex House Brand.
  • Posture, gestures, movement and walking 
  • Outgoing personality, be warm and friendly; demonstrate enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Possess effective listening skills and strong judgment.
  • Maintain a high energy level.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends and holidays.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to follow cost control procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask in high stress/fast paced environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an indoor/outdoor environment and requires early morning, weekend and holiday hours
